Description

Academy Award®-winner Juliette Binoche (1997, Best Supporting Actress, The English Patient) stars in "Caché," a psychological thriller about a TV talk show host and his wife who are terrorized by surveillance videos of their private life. Delivered by an anonymous stalker, the tapes reveal secret after secret until obsession, denial and deceit take hold of the couple and hurl them to the point of no return. "Caché" is director Michael Haneke's dark vision of a relationship torn mercilessly apart by the camera's unblinking eye.

This did not do it for me. I kept on waiting for what he did that was so terrible as a child. What a let down. Story was really weak. Was not even suspenseful. I am glad it was only 99 Cents.

this movie is extremely compelling and has a perfect ratio of both amazement and a deep disturbance. i left the movie and couldn't stop thinking about it. it's a perfect movie for indie-lovers. visually, the movie is fantastic. the way the camera is set up makes it seem like someone else is watching. truly amazing.

It is interesting that so many of the 'professional' movie critics who have reviewed this movie show such a thick-headed density about French culture and Haneke's role in it. This movie is an allegory, a very subtle but at the same time very direct story about French culture and national history. It is not intended to provide an answer to anything; questions such as those Haneke is asking are not so easy as to be answered in a few minutes of easy liberal infotainment, and he knows it. There are not easy answers to the questions Haneke raises, if there are any at all. And that is why Cache is so brilliant, and why only Haneke could have made it. This is among my favorite French movies ever made. It is really a masterpiece, I think, and represents Haneke at the height of his powers. I cannot recommend it enough, but only if you are willing to pay very close attention, and to think. This is a movie for thinkers (Frenchmen).

It is definatly a French movie when you know it could be half as long and still be exactly the same. Shots last way longer than they should and the plot never unfolds. Don't waste the $10.
  • A great film

When was the last time you had an issue in your life resolved? For the ones that were, how long did they take to get resolved? This movie covering a certain part of life, unresolved issues. Not everything is cleared up so easily, so why should a film lie and tell you differently? If you want a story with your usual begining middle and end, go watch "17 Again" or "The Proposal" but if you want something true to life, watch movies like this. Michael Haneke has a thing for ending his movies unfinished (ex. Code Unkown). The sooner you get out of the Hollywood mentality, the better off you'll be.
