Description

In this riveting study of the dynamics of control, Academy Award–winning director Michael Haneke takes on Nobel laureate Elfriede Jelinek’s controversial 1983 novel about perverse female sexuality and the world of classical music. A critical breakthrough for Haneke, The Piano Teacher—which won the Grand Prix as well as dual acting awards for its stars at Cannes—is a formalist masterwork that remains a shocking sensation.

This was so good I didn’t even know I was reading subtitles. A little slow in the beginning but overall a great movie.

Regardless of whether or not the film is controversial, Isabelle Huppert is the main reason to watch The Piano Teacher. She is captivating. The best performance by an actress EVER.
  • Cringey, but that's just the point.

An elite, culture snob music teacher lives a double life as a sex-obsessed creep who's incapable of intimacy. Please ignore the negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Some scenes are ridiculously cringey, but it's intentional and all part of the drama. Amazing performance by Isabelle Huppert.
