The French settlement sequences lasts for approximately 25 minutes of the 49 minutes added in this extended cut of Apocalypse Now. Perhaps if that remained cut and the remaining 24 minutes were kept this would be the superior version. I understand the history of the French in Vietnam, but the information given in those scenes are meaningless in the face of the rest of the films messages.

this is by far one of the best war movies, and best vietnam films i have ever seen. it displays the psychological emotions and feel that occurred in nam. i considered it more of a horror movie, because war is the greatest horror. it is very long though but it is amazing.

My dad took me to see this when i was in 5th grade, my 1st R rated movie. in short i forgot about everything else , it felt like i was there in the movie. just blew me away. Funny side story my whole life i thought this was a great movie experience with my Dad, well last year he tells me he thought this was the worst movie he ever saw and could barely keep his eyes open during it . I was just a little disapointed to say the least. Now i watched it with my son and he was blown away just like i was. ( i did skip though some of the not for kids parts in this newer version like where they find the downed playboy helicopter, that scene was kinda cheesy anyways )
  • THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE JUST GOT BETTER!!
