Description

From the folks that brought us Mr. Magoo comes "Gay Purr-ee," a stylish and sophisticated animated musical about a group of cats in Paris, France. "The Wizard of Oz" meets "Camelot" in the classic voices of Judy Garland and Robert Goulet, who add another dimension to the clever script by animation master Chuck Jones ("Looney Tunes") and his wife. The terrific score is by Harold Arlen ("The Wizard of Oz").

I had forgotten all about one of my favorite movies as a young boy\man (8-12 yrs old). I have raised five children, and never once do I remember sharing it my kids! Well, I now have 5 grandchildren (14 mths-10 yrs) and you bet your bottom dollar (oopps, hope I didn't offend anyone) the grandkids will be seeing it. Thanks for keeping good, wholesome entertainment alive & available/

This is an excellent movie. I always loved it as a kid, and now older (and beginning to study animation) it's a marvel of the animation industry of 1962! Gay of course means wonderful, happy lovely purree (or paris) it's from an older time when gay didn't mean what you think it means. But this is a great movie about realizing what you have and being happy with it. It's about a pampered cat who lives in the country and decides to go to paris where she feels she is meant to be. But once there the scheming con artists and cruel city life make her rethink. But Paris won't let go.

Brilliant. Impressionist colours. No sickly political correctness. My children adored it.
  • No 3D or CG needed!!

How refreshing to see an animated feature with imagination instead of special effects. Today's animation has too many quick edits for the so-called short attention spans of children. Give them a thoughtful story, colorful animation and great tunes. Great one to add to my movie collection. I like to have it going on in the background for just the music alone! Love it.
