  • Incredible hockey documentary

This was an awesome documentary. I believe kasatonov spoke out against fetisov not because he wanted to, but because he was forced to. He was his best friend so he was the easiest for the government to manipulate. Back then people who did stuff like this would "disappear" or their family would end up dead. I think his family was being held hostage, and you can tell during interviews with kasatonov that he truly regretted speaking against fetisov. He became an alcoholic
  • Near Perfect Hockey Doc

Slava Fetisov gives wonderful interviews in the doc. Will be of great interest to Hockey buffs and those who grew up during the Cold War. My only concern is that the wide scope and time period it attempts to cover only gives certain events brief time. However, this movie definitely goes top right cheese for the glory goal every time.

My dads friend made this movie so I got to see it months before it came out in theaters.

  • Very good but...

I found the central character Fetisov extremely non-insightful. One doesn't have to be a politician to answer the question "would you go back to the old Soviet Union?" Also skipped a lot of interesting stuff (1972 summit series, 1987 canada cup). Perhaps time constraints, but perhaps some of those ruin implication documentary gives that the old soviets always beat the NHL.

This was an entertaining, in depth, look at how life was in Russia. It talked about how that transferred over to the hockey world including all positive/negative effects. A truly fascinating Doc that is a must see for any one who calls themselves a hockey fan.

As a die hard hockey fan, this was required viewing. As a political junkie I was intrigued. You don’t have to be either of those things to enjoy this film. It is a fascinating look at a time from the point of view people who were part of it, not by choice but by society.
