  • Abysmal Version

I immediately asked for a refund when I was shocked to discover that this is 10 dollars for not even the original French language version. Why anybody in their right mind would want to listen to the English dubbing over the French poetry is beyond me. Please include the original French with *option* for subtitles in English.

Considered one of the masterpieces of modern film, spieler, lucas, and cameron have all said that this 26 minutes inspired them to be filmmakers.
  • Great film but dubbed - not the original narration

Very disappointed that Criterion would release this on iTunes only in the dubbed version with no way to change to the original French narration with English subtitles. Not what I expected from Criterion at all. Please fix it so we can watch the original version.

This is a very unusual sci if film that uses narration and still images to tell a time traveler's tale. It is a haunting and tragic story and the black and white images are beautifully composed. This isn't for everyone and probably is not something most people will want to watch more than one time, but it is definitely something all serious sci-if, art house and film connoisseurs should watch at least once. It is made all the more interesting when you realize it is the basis for the modern classic movie Twelve Monkeys.
