Interesting plot. Sufficiently creepy and suspenseful to keep it interesting. Good action sequences. Evans and Cusack play their roles well, and Brendan Gleason and Alice Eve are good in their supporting roles. Not a classic, but I enjoyed it.

What little time Cusack spends NOT shouting he spends trying to pull off looking broodingly melancholic. That just doesn't work for the main charcater in a thriller. The villain is equally disappointingly bland, and the crimes themselves do not rise to the level of the original works.

Something is rotten here and it's more than Tomatoes. This movie deserves a lot better rating. I guess we have become a culture of hype, complete rubbish action movies and smug movie stars. It's the Sherlock Holmes and Robert Downey jr this movie is often compare to and for my money its hundred times better. Both the acting and the story telling is solid , with good performance all around. A good gothic tale, although you can guess the identity of the killer if you pay attention to hair!

I've always loved Edgar but I wasn't a fan of jumpscares or terrifying buildups so I like the fact that its mild but it still has its classic Edgar like gore.

Since this movie deserver a way better than a 22%, I found this film to be quite interesting. After reading some of the reviews, both on retten tomatoes and itunes users I was hesitant about renting this movie but i have to say it was quite a good surprise. i really liked this movie, it was interesting and kept me wanting for more though some of the dialogue was a little confusing and boring at times. I have to say that my only complaint was that it was too short or at least that wha it seemed to me. it may appeared a lack a final substance but stillquite entertaining. i recommend specially if you are just renting it.

This movie captures Poe and his works perfectly. I'm not one for bloody movies, but it was so intense and transitioned quickly enough that my stomach didn't turn. This is an amazing piece of work. Bravo.
