Eddie Murphy is best know for his uptight comedic talent starring in classic films presenting his talent as rare, ambitious and proves he can balance pure performances working with lesser best known directors. Recenty, Eddie Murphy's career has been going downhill starring in terrible not so perfect films that don't present him as talented or intelligent for high laughs. After the terrible humlination of The Adventure of Pluto Nash, Eddie Murphy's career got worst and worst ever minute and with A Thousand Words realizing the film was shot back in 2008 was actually interesting and hilarious then the movie itself. Now seeing A Thousand Words was nothing I could regret or downside into depression like most people did after seeing Batman & Robin. A Thousand Words gets released in 2012 and wow....where do I start with this terrible, terrible, terrible comedy. Well here's the thing it isn't just Eddie Murphy's expression into communicating while being mouth shut the movie doesn't condem or cast a spell with it's certain ready to laugh audience. Nobody in my theater watching this movie even laughed or booing once the end credits rolled, The only thing that was hilarious and eye rolling about this poorly written demanded film was the fact it was shot back in 2008. Eddie Murphy stars as Jack McCall a lietery agent who can tell, ask and prove his agent skills far from closing his mouth for good and never stop at succeeding making deals. Then for fairy tale puddens a unexplainined, mysterious tree grows on Jack's front yard of his house warning him that whenever he speaks every time a leaf can fall from it's dying tree both Jack and the tree can die. The fact is the movie doesn't show or tell where the tree came from. Because according to Sinjin (Cliff Curtis) he didn't cast Jack's tree in the first place so we never get that mystery solved or it's explained in each scene once you get the idea leave the theater knowing that keeping your mouth shut is the message behind this utterly embarrasment. First of all we don't know anything about these muddled characters all being there to see Jack awkardly communicate with people while his mouth is shut. Many times the movie doesn't try to be funny or hilariojs because nothing seems to fit with anything that's going on. I was never attached to any material or element that was kept into unflawless fashion. Ther're repeating elements such as Jack's annoying ring tone from his phone, Cliff Curtis's unnoticed CGI face that took me by distraction. Besides all the glittes and mud this poorly written comedy represents, the director Brian Robbins seems to asume the fact, Eddie Murphy is a fast talker, So in moderation has a studio like this make fun of the most perfect king of comedy. It's such a shame to see Eddie Murphy thrown down into the wasteline when many directors, writers, producers etc, point figures and laughing at Eddie Murphy watching him fail at his extreme. Brian Robbin's fortune into directing a movie straight out of the basement that was shot back in 2008 his hope into making fame into Hollywood directing this garbage, Brian Robbins failed at intent into making a out of fashion stupid comedy with a forheaded script. A Thousand Words fails at comedy but it was nice to see a terrible comedy not focusing on fart jokes, immature elements that make a poorly written comedy so absucre. Eddie Murphy tried to stick his A-Game or his sad clown personality he will try next time starring in good old fashion films we all used to know him by. Poor Murphy, Brian Robbins beat you to a pulp saying you talk to much so will make a movie presenting so many elements that we can make out of you. But go ahead and watch A Thousand Words like your going to see him try or fail no matter how many words I stuck into writting this review chances are I never see this film ever again.

Up front, this movie missed packing a punch at the end - the reason why he was able to survive. It needed a little bit better story telling. And, yeah - creating a situation where Eddie wasn't able to talk... not a good idea. But - this movie is not as bad a idiotic Rotten Tomatoes wants you to believe. My rule of thumb... if a move is both hated by the viewers and Rotten Tomatoes, it's probably not good. If it's getting an ok rating by the viewers and a bad Rotten Tomatoes rating - go for it. It might be a good movie to watch. Bottom line... this wasn't as bad as they make it sound. Worth watching if you're an Eddie Murphy fan.

This story could have been told without the trashy language and homosexual kowtowing.

While super-heroes (Marvel & DC), raunchy comedies, sequel-preguel-reboot-remakes, books to movies, "true stories", historic dramas, a dime a million romances/horrors, and high octane adrenaline pumping espionage, with a dash of family animation is all fine and dandy, a slow-ish morality filled meaningful experience is not unneeded to give a 0%. With hollywood litterally broken into the previous cliches and steriotypes these days its noce to have these little gems that while not block-busters or friday night kicks are still nice to have so people know that hollywood can have an idea once in a while. 100%? NO! Not even my favorite movie desrves that. But maybe even a 20-50% would suffice as this is a wonderful movie with a moral that you slick talking snakes could learn from. To the reader: besides the advise to RT above I would buy this if you like a story with a moral a coherent "as it happens plot (IE the plot is more of a book than an action move)" and just a bit of humor.

Amazing!!!!

This film is seemingly thin just as the guru's book though if you see the message you'll know it's anything but. I will admit that the film isn't the funniest movie I've seen nor do I think it was meant to be. As people's expectations are raised with each movie it seems that they forget what really matters in them.

This movie is not bad at all. Definitely not a family movie but it is sort of funny.

I don't understand why rotton tomatoes gave it a bad review. I thought it was funny, and i laughed alot when i saw it. So don't believe the critics, because if they can give a Katy Perry movie good reviews then they can't be taken too seriously.

May not be the number one best comedy ever, but this movie still has some things that'll keep your attention of.
