Description

In THE PRINCESS OF MONTPENSIER, acclaimed filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier ('ROUND MIDNIGHT) directs a spectacular cast in a riveting, lush romantic drama set in the high courts of 16th Century France. Against the backdrop of the savage Catholic/Protestant wars, Marie de Mézières (Mélanie Thierry), a beautiful young aristocrat, finds herself married to a young prince (Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet, LOVE SONGS) she does not love, haunted by a rakish suitor Gaspard Ulliel (A VERY LONG ENGAGEMENT) from her childhood, and advised by an aging nobleman Lambert Wilson (OF GODS AND MEN), harboring his own forbidden desire for her. The Princess of Montpensier must struggle passionately to stay alive in the intrigue of this corrupt political and romantic web of duty, passion, religion and war.

İ even like cheesy hollywood chick flicks but this movie is a boring, ever so repeated story, with no real emotion or ingenuity. İ personally found it to be a waste of time and money.

Yes, the cast is handsome. The scenery and sets are interesting but the plot draaaaggs at times. The actor, Gregoire Leprince-Ringuet, portraying the prince has little to no voice inflection. Melanie Thierry, the actress who portrays the heroine, pouts through most of the film. Thank goodness for the performance of Raphaël Personneaz, the actor who portrays Duc d' Anjou, saves the film from being a complete snoozefest. Wait for the $0.99 rate
  • Dreadfully boring costume drama

If watching costumes can keep you happy for over two hours, this is for you.

Fantastic acting....classic story of the folly of falling in love based on passion, with a man whose intentions are based on competitiveness, rather than love. Oh how many of us wish we went with the steady true love rather than simple lust? Done in a fresh way with great cast, plot and costumes...beautiful.
