Description

Ethan Mascarenhas, (Hrithik Roshan) one of the greatest magicians of his time, has been immobilized with a spinal injury for the last fourteen years of his life. He still manages to spread magic and hope through his irrepressible wit and humor to listeners on his radio show. Ethan is aided through every moment of his present life by the epicenter of his world - his nurse, Sofia D'Souza (Aishwarya Rai). Theirs is a love beautiful in its implicit silence, unwavering in its quiet strength and spirited in their constant verbal sparring. On the fourteenth anniversary of his accident, Ethan makes a petition to the Court that shocks the world and leaves Sofia in an impasse that challenges their relationship and their love. Ethan fights tooth-and-nail to demand the most basic right that every human being is entitled to ヨ the right to his own life. The ethics, the morality, the kindness and cruelty of this mission creates a storm in all the lives that it envelops and its resolution forms the startling conclusion of Ethan's remarkable journey.

Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai are lovely...nice to see the acting abilities of Roshan without the typical Bollywood cliches.

Considering the subject matter, this movie is amazingly upbeat, and it is also a very pretty movie. Bhansali is known for paying a lot of attention to the beauty of a set as well as to his actors, and this movie is no exception. If you think of Bollywood as shallow and tacky, then this movie should convince you that this need not be true. Without losing the rich tradition of song and dance that has been a hallmark of Indian movies, this tells a powerful story with great beauty, setting all of its songs and its few dance numbers in realistic ways. (Among other things, quadruplegics can dance in their dreams. Hrithik Roshan is one of the premier dancers in India, and does not disappoint here, with a powerful number that is far outside the standard choreography for Bollywood movies.) Strong performances by all of the main actors.

Best movie i have seen in many years! Beautiful plot + Beautiful romance = an outstanding made movie. Ash and Hithrik did a phonominal job! I nearly bawled my eyes out at the end! When a movie can get some sort of reaction out of you, then you know its a good one. No words can describe how beautiful this really is. HUGE applause to Sanjay, Bhansali, Hithrik, Aishwariya Rai, Aditya, Monikangana, Suhel, and Shernaz Patel!
