I’ve watched dozens of times. So hard to believe this movie is 70 years old. Plays like it could be made today. Watch it. You won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic film but time to give this classic winner a upgrade to 4K for future generations.Outstanding performances by all involved.

Quite simply, this is one of the best films ever made. If you haven't seen it yet do yourself a favor and watch it. There is nothing about this film that isn't top notch, from the writing and direction to the acting. One of the top 5 films ever made.

One of the sharpest, most literate scripts with probably the best assembled case ever. And to think it was filmed in only about a month. Bette Davis, George Sanders, and Celeste Holm are simply brilliant. The film loses a little steam for a bit about 3/4 of the way through - but hold on. Its just a 10 minute breather before the finale.

Bette Davis plays herself in a way. She stands as an aging top-of-the-line actress who has three friends in Celeste Holm, her playwright, Hugh Marlowe, and her maid, Thelma Ritter. She has her director boyfriend and later real-life husband, Gary Merrill. When Anne Baxter comes backstage one night after a performance, they start an odd form of friendship: Anne serves Bette while learning her like a "floor plan". Anne tries to steal every aspect about Bette's life and there is chaos. The first time I saw this movie, I was captivated by the great acting and talent, direction by Joe Mankiewicz, and the breathtaking performance by Bette Davis. I ended up watching it like 5 times in one week. You say "dang", but it's that good! All I have to say is....BUY IT!!! This is the Best Movie, and you will never regret it!

this is without a doubt my favorite movie in the entire world. bette davis, anne baxter, george sanders, celeste holm & thelma ritter (all favorite actors of mine) shown in particular and props to marilyn monroe for starting her career off with this film. it is beyond an incredible film with twists and turns that no one will expect. this movie shows something no other modern movie can hope to portray. there is good and bad in all of us. but which is there more of?
