My Sister's Keeper

This movie was the most amazing movie I have seen in a long time. It touched me so deeply. If you have never seen this movie I definitely recommend buying it. You will never find a movie this amazing!!!

**Spoilers in this comment** I read My Sister's Keeper in two days. I was very excited for the movie and was waiting for that one perfect moment. I finally found it and tried to watch it with my mother. I am sooooooooooooooo disappointed. The book and the movie are totally different. The movies doesn't even go in order. The wrong person dies, they take out a person, and it is so choppy. They will move from scene to scene and I felt like it did not fit probably. Like I said it was totally different from the book. My mother thought it was ok and she read the book long time ago. So if you have read the book recently please do not buy/ rent it. You will be so sad.

Having just wreathe book, I was extremely excited to watch the movie. I understood that it wouldn’t be exactly the same, but this movie has made me very angry. Instead of keeping most of the key details, this movie pushed every part of the plot out of the window. It’s like an entirely different story! they left out: -Anna playing hockey -Jesse’s pyromania -Kate thinking that Taylor wasn’t dead for a month after he died -JULIA who is a very important character. -KATE DOESN”T DIE IN THE BOOK, ANNA DOES! -Kate never mentions Montana -they ever go to the beach. - Mr.Fitzgerald testifies -The judge is a man. This is why I am very disappointed with the movie.

My Sisters Keeper, the movie, honestly was not one of those film adaptations I was absolutely sure about, even before I had the pleasure of reading the brilliant original work of art by Jodi Picoult. Here's how it turned out for me. I saw the movie, but not in the movies, and it had the overall sentiment and excess melodrama of a Hallmark film or some run-of-the-mill episodic drama. I had no problem with Sofia Vassalieva's portrayal of Kate, the cancer-stricken elder daughter, but I wasn't so sure about Abigail Breslin's portrayal of kate sister, Anna. Anyway, I was in the grey area about the movie. Then, several years later, i read the novel, and....well, I loved it. It was, and certainly IS five times more engaging and compelling than the film. After reading the novel, I viewed the film and well, reading the book helped me to make up my mind about the film. The film, compared to the novel, was a deliberate disappointment. Instead of the main story being told from ALL the main characters' points of view, director Nick Cassavetes wanted to put Anna way up front. While Jesse is a pyromaniac and a rebel in the novel, in the film, he is a depressed artist, seemingly with nothing interesting to say. The film even left out Campbell Alexander's backstory, and it completely excluded the guardian ad litem, Julia. If I may take a guess, the book's intention was (and is) to explore the impact of a one person's life on the lives of those around him/her. Whereas director Nick Cassavetes had the intention of explaining the all too familiar subject of "parent vs. child;" what happens when the parent refuses to listen to the child. Maybe--just MAYBE, mind you--that's why he chose to put the relationship between Anna and her mother, Sara, on the front line. Nevertheless, Cassavetes did not stay true to Picoult's stunning, original material. Now, I would still look at the movie, but only for the sake of comparing it to the book, NOT exactly for pleasure. However, if you are going to see this movie, the first thing you need to do is not read the book...if that is possible.

Horribly made movie. Very interesting subject, but the way the movie treats the issues is cheap soap opera style. Hugs and pizza solve everything?

I have never been so put down on a movie that is based on a book. I was so thrilled and then after watching this I was so mad and just let down.

This movie is soo good, its a real tear jerker because the story is so touching. I would still have to say the book was way better, simply because the ending was more realistic. I love both though.

Anna doesn't die in the end, the guardian ad liteum never shows up, and Kate dies in the end. NOTHING LIKE THE BOOK.

The movie was really good but having read the book before watching the movie, I feel like the director should have stuck to the much happier ending from the book. After watching the movie, I can safely say that I like the book much, much better than the movie.
