Description

Six men saw it. One man became a prisoner inside it. But who would believe them? In 1975, logger Travis Walton (D.B. Sweeney) and his co-workers discovered a hovering UFO. Walton's pals fled, but Walton was not so fortunate. Whisked aboard the strange aircraft, he was subjected to a painful, unearthly medical study. Fire in the Sky is the amazing tale of that ordeal...and of the contempt and ridicule endured by the co-workers as they try to explain Walton's mysterious disappearance. (He was found five days later bloodied and bruised). James Garner plays an investigator who suspects the story may be a murder cover-up. And Robert Patrick, Craig Sheffer, Peter Berg, Bradley Gregg and Henry Thomas join Sweeney in the roles of the men staggered by an event they would have thought impossible if it hadn't happened to them...an encounter with a UFO.

  • A Real “Killer” B Movie (one of 237!)

    4

This review is an excerpt from my book “Killer B’s: The 237 Best Movies On Video You’ve (Probably) Never Seen,” which is available as an ebook on iBooks. If you enjoy this review, there are 236 more like it in the book (plus a whole lot more). Check it out! FIRE IN THE SKY: The credits claim this is “based on a true story,” but whether or not the story is actually true, it still makes for a good story—and a very different kind of film. Much of the movie is the slow, folksy tale, not of Walton, but of his best friend Mike Rogers (Patrick), who is hounded by the press and ostracized by the town as a liar—or a murderer. But when Rogers’ personal horror ends, Walton’s is just beginning. As his memories return, the film immediately and without forewarning shifts trajectories and becomes a horror flick as vivid as “Alien”—an effect cunningly calculated to viscerally indicate how Walton himself must have felt, leading a boring, normal life one moment, and the next, finding himself a guinea pig for inscrutable ETs. The special effects in Walton’s anamnesia are superb—and far too realistic. If you’re squeamish about mucous and medical instruments, don’t *not* watch it…just be prepared to close your eyes a couple times...
  • Not accurate at all, but still compelling

Hollywood has to get it wrong in order for it to be a success - but I guess they have to wreck the truth in order for it to sell. Putting aside your expectation that the truth will be reflected in this story, it’s an interesting yarn that does bear the faintest glimmer of truth about what happened outside of Snowflake, AZ to a group of six men one incredible night. If the truth of the real events doesn’t matter to you, it’s an compelling story. After seeing the movie, read Travis’ account in his book by the same name — and don’t expect seeing the screenplay mirrored in it.

There isn't a complete music sound track of the movie. I have been trying to find the song played during the movie credits.

One of the best alien/abduction movie ever! Based on a true story! The acting is amazing and every shot in this movie makes you feel like you are there experiencing everything with the characters. I would not say it's horror scary (a little creepy yes) but you won't be able to take your eyes off the screen because the story line is so good. Everything about this movie and story is amazing! My top favorite film that I can never get off my mind. If you google this story it's even more interesting than the movie (the movie is still great!)..truth is for sure stranger than fiction! Wish I could meet those guys and I hope they all including Travis Walton live a happy & healthy life! I hope they know that this is something amazing that happened to them and that thankfully no one got physically hurt and that they can share this story with the world. Love!

This is a very good movie for people who are in the mood to be scared. I promise you, the last ten minutes will keep you on the edge of your seat. But I don't recommend this movie to little kids who are under 13, it has been known to cause nightmares, how should I know?? I was a kid once and my mom put that movie on for me, I was traumatized till I was 16

If you were looking for a good alien flick like Independence Day, this is NOT the movie for you. Tons of talking, very little alien.
  • Great movie

Not worth spending all the money to buy it. If it ever is available to rent do it, you will be in for a treat. Great movie to get your mind thinking about what else lives in this universe. It is also based on true events.
  • Good but not very accurate

Great movie to please horror fans, but don't expect an exact retelling of what Travis Really experienced. According to him, the aliens didn't hurt him like they did on this movie. Research it.
