Description

Autobigraphical film follows the director as he tries to recover blacked-out memories of his experiences fighting in the 1982 Israel-Lebanon war. The movie's title comes from a key moment when a soldier in Folman's platoon enters a kind of fugue state, firing his gun while dancing in the street in front of a billboard of former Lebanese prime minister Bashir Gemavel.

Excellent. The style reminds of a comic book in motion - in some ways, this makes the content easier to bear. A very human film. Highly recommended.

The style is unusual - like a blend between "Waking Life" and "A Scanner Darkly" with an Adobe Flash twist to it. The story is intriguing and thought-provoking. The content is sometimes upsetting without being overdone. It is very tasteful given the subject. All in all I enjoyed it greatly and found it refreshingly different.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw this, but I was pleased to discover its simplicity and beauty. It simultaneously portrays war as mundane and sensational. Very human. A highly recommended film.

I am pro Israel and was proud to support and Israeli made film about this very imporant topic. The film is a look into the minds of Israeli's and shows how much Israel both hates war while showing s few other things: 1. The effects of war on soldiers (PTSD, among other psychological problems). 2. That the enemy Israel faces is not what people think and that the world needs to see what the enemy can do (hidi v in civilian population, using children to fight wars and hide among them, etc). 3. Israel on the first Lebanon war. Bot every Israeli supports the first war. In fact, Israelis can compare this venture into what America is doing in Iraq. Overall, and important film on Israel, war, and it's effects on soldiers.

This movie stinks. It's just the Israeli twist on self guilt but of course they have to profit from it also.

I love this movie. It shows brilliant use of cinematic tools that leaves the audience never with indifferance. (Just for the record-You wrote a great review' but the war was in the 80's, not the 70's.)
