Description

Academy Award and Golden Globe-winner Robert De Niro ("Raging Bull," "Godfather: Part II") and Academy Award, Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner Dustin Hoffman ("Rain Man," "Kramer vs. Kramer") star in a tale of politics, power and Hollywood so outrageous it could be true! Two weeks before re-election, the President of the United States is accused of accosting a girl scout. Before the news reaches the media, his advisors call in a political consultant specializing in image rescues. What to do? Hire a Hollywood producer to create a war -- distracting public attention from the scandal and rallying Americans to their President in surge of patriotic fever. Also starring Denis Leary, Kirsten Dunst and Woody Harrelson. Directed by Academy Award and Emmy Award-winner Barry Levinson ("Rain Man," TV's "Homicide: Life on the Street"). Based on the novel American Hero by Larry Beinhart.

This is in my top-five movies. When I'm not quoting it I'm thinking about it. There's sharp character acting from everyone but the scene between DeNiro and William H. Macy is thrillingly played out. Woody Harrelson shakes off his "Cheers" persona as if it never existed. The production is wonderfully supported by crisp editing and a score whose every note feels perfectly placed.

It's one the most interesting, funny, and entertaining films that I have ever seen. Dustin Hoffman gives one of my favorite performances I ever seen on screen, he is perfect. It is one of the best written films that have seen and it is a film that more people should see.

Top notch. An accurate portrayal of how easy it is to manipulate the media and brainwash people. And we live in this world. Everything could be a lie.

Wag the Dog was an awesome film. I never get tired of Dustin Hoffman, and in this movie he was brilliant (but he was better in tootsie and rainman). Nevertheless it is worth watching.
