You don't have to like jazz music to appreciate the soundtrack of this classic. Made before Denzel and Wesley were recognizable by only their first names, this movie showcases the irresistible style and charisma of these Hollywood legends. The classic Spike Lee style, and the use of consummate professionals (e.g., Guincarlo Esposito, Samuel Jackson, and John and Nicholas Turturro) prior to their breakout roles lends a level of realism and humor to a strong plot and soundtrack that come together to form a true classic. While enjoyable for all, Wesley Snipes smooth and sexy performance in this movie changed the landscape of African-American culture ushering in the era of the dark-skinned male.

Truly a great Spike Lee movie, with his typically innovative camera work, and outstanding performances by Denzel Washington and the rest, and the music is superb. Get the soundtrack.

Denzel Washington is a great actor. Wesley Snipes is in one of my favorite movies (Demolition Man). I don't know what he does in this but he is a great villian.
