Description

Written and directed by Academy Award winner Sofia Coppola (2003, Best Writing, Lost In Translation), Marie Antoinette is an electrifying yet intimate re-telling of the turbulent life of history's favorite villainess. Kirsten Dunst portrays the ill-fated child princess who married France's young and indifferent King Louis XVI (Jason Schwartzman). Feeling isolated in a royal court rife with scandal and intrigue, Marie Antoinette defied both royalty and commoner by living like a rock star, which served only to seal her fate.

Even in black and white, the original 1938 version with Norma Shearer is much better, and historically accurate. This movie is garbage. Terrible acting and writing and doesn’t even capture who Marie Antoinette really was as a person. The only positive thing I have to say about this film is that the costumes were beautiful.

This movie is just such a good movie. Most people think it’s supposed to be an accurate rendition of what actually happened, but it’s a Sophia Coppola movie. It has the right actors, the right music. It’s an amazing movie. It was well thought out and it’s been a favorite of mine since it came out.

I have no idea what the filmmakers were thinking. This is some sort of weird abstraction. I'm surprised they didn't have her twerking, texting her BFFs, and taking selfies.
  • Historically inaccurate & boring

It honestly was one of the most boring movies I’ve ever watched. It was also very inaccurate because in the ending Marie and her husband were never killed by the mob and they escaped unharmed. The movie didn’t even end with an explanation as far as what happened to them afterwards. To summarize, it was a major disappointment and waste of time. DO NOT WATCH THIS TRASH.👎

This movie is an enjoy for people who like a modern soundtrack to spunk up a historical story. Kirsten Dunst may not be the best actress of make the best Marie Antoinette, but it was an entertaining movie filled with color, lavish lifestyles and scandal. I'd watch it again.

Marie Antoinette was a really good movie! I feel it definitely captured the "palace life" of the young queen. The sets are just amazing! Even though there is "rock-ish" music throughout the movie, I feel it gets her type of character (additive). The costumes are exquisite and the acting is pretty good! My first thought was...finally a foreign movie with no British accents! This movie also mentions the American Revolution, pretty cool! The only thing is, is that it totally skips over the end of the young queens life, but... It's defiantly a good flick for a rental! I recommend it!

Perfect masterpiece!! May not be accurate about the real Marie Antoinette but the acting and scenery is awesome!
