Description

Robert Redford leads an all-star cast in one of the most satisfying suspense films! Computer expert Martin Bishop (Redford) heads a team of renegade hackers - including a former CIA employee (Sidney Poitier), a gadgets wizard (Dan Aykroyd), a young genius (River Phoenix) and a blind soundman (David Strathairn) - who are routinely hired to test security systems. But Bishop's past comes back to haunt him when government agents blackmail the "sneakers" into carrying out a covert operation: tracking down an elusive black box. Along with his former girlfriend (Mary McDonnell), Bishop's team retrieves the box and makes a stunning discovery - the device can break into any computer system in the world. With factions from all sides willing to kill for the powerful box, Bishop and his team embark on their most dangerous assignment ever in this exhilarating high-tech caper from Phil Alden Robinson (Field of Dreams).

If I ever got elected president, I’d be sworn in on a Blu-ray copy of this film.

Slow start, interesting middle, ridiculous ending. The spy activities were cool, but the story was weak and fell apart at the end.

It's a great flick and the plot isn't hard to follow but on the edge. Yes the high technology is past dated to a degree, but this whole film is timeless. Excellent acting, great script and a winner 👏. If you've not seen it I highly recommend you do ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • A sleeper hit

This is one of those films that didn't do well at the box office becuase people have to think about the plot in this film and you know how the general public can get at times with films that make you think. This film doesn't cater to the lowest common denominator and that is one of the points that make this movie a sleeper hit. It shows what penetration testers who think outside the box do. Now of course Hollywood sham-glammed it up a bit, but it is still a good story to get you thinking about how technology has everything interconnected in the world today.

Hey iTunes, I noticed you don't have any river Phoenix songs. His band was called Aleka's attic and I would like to hear some of his songs because I'm a huge fun of his. Can you please put his songs on I tunes?
  • Horrible Lighting

The movie was okay, but kind of hard to follow the plot at times. The worst thing about it was that it seemed like the whole film was shot in very low light. You can barely see anything the whole time. I wouldn't recommend it to be honest.

If you like caper movies with clever protagonists pulling off difficult tasks with relative ease, you'll certainly enjoy Sneakers. But what really adds icing to the cake, in my opinion, is the wonderful soundtrack. James Horner composed the catchy score that features Brandford Marsalis on the soprano sax. The score provides the perfect compliment to the story line and the action. After seeing the movie for the third time I found myself focusing as much on the music as I did on the plot. Horner's genius and hints of his future success are clearly on display.
