The Man With One Red Shoe

The original music compositions and score by Thomas Newman are really what makes this film a gem, for me. Even with today’s lens of focus on cinematic orchestra arrangements, atmospheric and minimal soundscapes, you can really see how influential and ahead of his time Newman was with his work on Man with One Red Shoe. Opening title score is outstanding. Quite dense "harmonious cacophony" of sound, fusing a lot of various elements of different nature together, each rising and falling with importance, market share, yet ever rhythmic. The "return from the dentist / bicycle travel” scene score is an amazingly uplighting melody. One wants to stay a lot longer with those beautiful atmospheric loops. You get a real sense of optimism and hopefulness from Newman’s compositions. It perhaps mirrors an 80s sentimentality of things just "working out,” as expressed with the uplifting tones. Film is cute, comfortable and approachable. There are a handful of exquisite cinematic shots, though the film is by no means art-house. For its genre, as a fairly light comical fluff, it’s good, 3.5 to 4 stars. You don’t try to rate it equally on the same scale as you would with powerhouse, attempted art or drama film. Music wise, 5 stars for me. There’s some cheese concerning Hank’s “original” violin score, presumably written by Newman. But it’s the Thomas Newman arrangements, his explorations of (presumably) electronic music, cinematic orchestra and atmospheric strings that really set the standard.

This movie is absolutely hilarious! I loved it! Not only was it funny, it leaves you feeling good. Tom Hanks & Jim Belushi did a great job along with the supporting cast.

Why do they Show the camel every 5 min I mean ????? Soo stupid I hate it :)

OMG!! This is a classic with Tom Hanks and Jim Belushi! it is soooo funny! great plot and good bad guy (Dabney Coleman) a must for when you want to watch a good movie on a cold night and just relax with a good feeling afterwards... a must see for Tom Hanks fans...

This has been one of my favorite all time movies since I saw it way back in the 80s. Its funny and has a dark undertone that gives it a unique film.
