Description

Charming and bittersweet, this modern-day romantic comedy starring Uma Thurman, Janeane Garofalo and Ben Chaplin, explores the beguiling perils of mistaken identity. Abby (Garofalo), a savvy, witty veterinarian who hosts her own radio talk show, is anything but confident when it comes to love. A petite brunette, she describes herself as tall and blonde when Brian (Chaplin), a caller who is smitten with her radio persona, asks her on a date. She then talks her tall, blonde neighbor Noelle (Thurman) into assuming her identity, setting off an escalating series of hilarious and romantic crises.

I watched this movie when i was younger. It was so funny and cute. I don't understand the whole Pretty/Ugly thing though. In this movie I think Jeneane is adorable and I never found Uma super attractive. But I love this movie so much!

I related especially to Janeane Garofolo's character in this film. It's my favorite ever. I, like one other reviewer, would love to be able to purchase the soundtrack. In addiiton to a good story, the music is great.

This had a fantastic soundtrack with a song by Jill Sobule I haven't been able to find ANYWHERE, along with Suzanne Vega's Caramel and a few other great ones. When can we have the soundtrack???

I wrote this one off before viewing when it first dropped, in the mistaken belief that Janeane/Uma was utter stunt casting. Happily, years later, I caught it on cable and found it totally entertaining and engrossing. It is definitely a light movie, as has been stated previously, but the relationship between the two women is compelling (moreso possibly than the romantic plot) and the evolution of each one's self-awareness leads them both to bolster the self-confidence of the other and herself. In my opinion, both Janeane and Uma accomplish the necessary transitions with performances that are sincere, humorous, and graceful. Friendly and funny.

Definitely one of my favorite chick flicks. All the characters have a charm about them and the dialogue is good. Highly recommended.

Light and playful overall good not sure why people review movies they've never seen?? But the only thing wrong is Uma wrong person for the role.
