THIS IS A VERY LIGHT AND FUN MOVIE, THOUGH IT IS TOO BAD THAT THERE WAS MORE PROFANITY SH__, G__D___, HE__ ETC.) THAN EXPECTED. MARSHA MASON WAS LESS OBNOXIOUS THAN USUAL AND JASON ROBARDS, MATTHEW BRODERICK AND THE GUY WHO PLAYED THE COP WERE HILARIOUS. MINUS THE PROFANITY, A VERY ENJOYABLE ENTERTAINING MOVIE.

A wonderful cast makes this Neil Simon film set in Venice, CA in the early 1980's, an absolute go-to feel-good film. It has charm a la Robards, humor from Broderick, and Donald Sutheralnd plays a cop who has fallen for a frazzled and goofy Teacher at her wits end. The story is silly and kind of on the same vein as The Incredible Shrinking Woman in terms of tone, but it also has Simon's trademark lilt-with a hint of Brighton Beach Memoirs in the mix. I have always loved this movie for its entertainment value without being in your face as many 21st century films are. It does not take its self so seriously which makes it a pure joy to watch.
