Description

Set in the summer after graduation, Enid and Rebecca are both outsiders in a world slowly being engulfed by fake 50's diners and Starbucks. Enid must attend an art class to officially graduate high school as Rebecca gets a job. When the two play a mean joke on a much older, geeky record collector, Enid finds a fellow soul and begins to discover the complexities of becoming an adult in the modern world.

Great movie, picked this one up at the thrift store for $1.25. It’s an older film I’ve never seen before but so much better than a lot of films these days.
  • Different, kind of slow.

Crazy ending leaves you wondering what did you just watch? Good drama though.

The advocates and the critics of this film both have good points. I thought the first half was more entertaining than the second half, which became somewhat predictable. It's a shame that Scarlett Johansson's character was not better developed. I'd almost call this an Evil Romy and Michele. =D

An "art movie" for people who love to think they're unique and forward thinking. I'm sure this was the darling of the Sundance Film Festival at some point - everything about the film smacks of it. The movie constantly draws attention to itself and says, "See...this is what's really important in life. If you don't "get it", then you're hopelessly normal and not worthy of my attention." By all means, buy the DVD of this film, watch it and then find some use for it - as a coaster for your drink or as something to put under the leg of an uneven table. Of course if you're a gun enthusiast, you could also use this as a clay bird in skeet shooting!

The graphic novel is epic and this movie really captures the heart of it. Of what it's like to be a part of an I don't give an eff teenage generation. Amazing movie in every way possible, from the incredible acting to the script to the great film making. A must see before you die feature.

This is a really cute and funny movie set back in a time when Scarlett Johansson was still likeable.

A masterpiece-- this movie cleverly and poignantly addresses an epidemic of mediocrity and blandness. If you don't "get it", thats because you are a part of its subject matter. If you like fraternities, Katy Perry, pretentious and fatuitous art exhibits, or enjoy dancing the Cupid Shuffle you should probably skip this one.
