Description

A powerful, true story about members of the Navajo tribe who proudly served the U.S. in WWII as code talkers by using their native language as a code to relay information to military leaders. Unbeknownst to the Navajo is the dark secret that they're to be killed by American soldiers if one of them is in danger of being captured.

Windtalkers is a complete and utter bomb, the film equivalent of a dumpster fire. It's almost impressive in that it fails on every single level intended, nothing about it works. It takes a fascinating subject, the Navajo Codetalkers in the Pacific Theater of WW2, and reduces it to a noisy arcade game that makes Armageddon look like Citizen Kane. Windtalkers doesn't even pretend to be interested in the Navajo code, its intricacy, and the men who brought it to the battlefield. it makes brief and lazy attempts early in the movie and then seems to forget entirely. The acting, writing and dialogue is wooden and completely uninspired. The Marines talk in the way you would expect from a 50's war movie. The final nail in the coffin is that, for all its sins, Windtalkers isn't even a good action movie!! The battle scenes are so horrendously staged, edited, and grossly mishandled that it is downright cartoonish. The action reminded me of Rambo 2 or some other 80's action movie. I did kind of like Adam Beach, but the movie is so bad it casts a shadow over his acting ability. He, a native American, should have been the star, not Cage. It's really a shame because Beach and, most importantly, our heroic codetalkers DESERVE a better film.
  • Nothing but constant hokey action scenes

I don’t write many reviews, but I have to warn the world how awful this movie was. I enjoy action movies, but give me some content! It was just continuous shooting and explosions. Cage’s acting made me laugh a few times, but I don’t think that was the writers’ intent.

This is a great movie, really well done, one of Nicolas Cages best. The critics are very wrong on this one.

It to be this sad. I kinda just sat there after I had watched it and thought about it. Nicolas Cage was not really the BEST choice here (Mark Ruffalo was, though :D), but did okay. It was all kinda stiff the whole way through. But overall, a rental at least.

To those who wrote bad reviews-did you even watch it!!!!! To those whom which wrote good reviews-ya knew what you were talking about. The people who were negative about this movie most likely loved namby-Pamby, wishy-washy chick flicks and love stories. Also,to the actors, directors, and producers, you were and still are geniuses! And to the imbeciles who think this movie took place on Iwo Jima Look at a map, and watch the movie because it was on the island of Saipan Thank you very much.
