Star Trek X: Nemesis

I really like the film but Tom Hardy not looking remotely like Picard kind of draws me out of the movie a bit. Also the B4 quest wasn't the greatest. Special effects were top notch and movie was good even great at times but for the TNG movies nothing beats First Contact.

We rented this movie only to catch up to the plot of Picard (the Amazon show) as it refers to this movie a lot. I have seen the original series back in its day and loved it. This movie felt like a double episode of a weekly episode. The plot and acting were really poor and the special effects didn’t age well at all. It just seems silly. The plot also didn’t make to much sense. First he tries to destroy the mighty Federation then he is after Picard only to settle on destroying the earth. Of course the Enterprise already in shambles, defeats it all. Well the Picard show makes at least little more sense now. Still this move was like a nose bleed that never wanted to end.

Tone was all wrong. Music was bad. Too dark. Dragged in too many spots. Mind-rape scene was very uncomfortable to watch and doesn’t belong in a Star Trek movie. Really poor way to end the TNG era.

The TNG movies were never much more than longer versions of the tv show, and this one fits that mold. Everything about it -- with the exception of introducing a talented young Tom Hardy -- is old and played out. They should have stopped with First Contact, which wasn't great but the best of the four.

Apparently no one really paid attention to the Next Gen series when writing this storyline. The repetition of "evil twins" was an old plot twist used far too many times. Where was the tie in to the other Star Trek series that would have made this movie incredible. We see Wesley (last seen wandering thru alternate timelines) in a starfleet uniform (he gave up his commission) we see Worf (last seen assuming a side to Martok - essentially his second in commande of the Klingon Empire!) we see Admiral Janeway (formerly Captain of USS Voyager - and if anything like her "future" self one of "the most decorated officiers in Star Fleet history"! The potential for this movie with those characters just in appearence alone could have made the plot far more interesting - if Janeway had given the "Armor" tech or "transphastic torpedoes" she brought back with her - imagine the battle the Enterprise (the Flagship of the Federation should have had them) would have given the Romulans! (not to mention the surprise). This was possibly the worse of the Star Trek movies - its a toss up with Final Frontier - a sad way for fans to see it all end.

This is a truly, terrible movie. It's a tragedy in the Star Trek franchise! It killed the Next Generation film series, it killed the entire movie franchise. And it finally redeemd itself with the J.J. Abrams reboot.

There are some good things about this film, but the story does not reveal the right kind of development. People run around and do stuff. Things blow up. A Star Trek XI would have been good for playing out the bit at the end, but this movie was such a studio-overmanaged disaster that the audience'd had enough. Toss in a director who knew nothing of ST and who didn't even know the names of the actors he was directing – he, along with the studio, buried the TNG family once and for good.

It has pretty excellent effects, character development, space battles, phaser battles, villain, storyline, humor, vehicles, and starships when I used to watch this movie growing up, and I still loved this movie. Though the fact that it was the final TNG movie when Lord Of The Rings killed Star Trek was unbelievable. So I would rather blame either Lord Of The Rings or Paramount. Yes, how the crew of the Enterprise E ended their adventures was weak, but do not blame Paramount. Blame Lord Of The Rings. But other than that, this Next Generation movie is my favorite. Feel free to see it again to those who might agree.
