Kirk (William Shatner) seems resigned to the fact that this inspection may well be the last space mission of his career. But Khan is back. Aided by his exiled band of genetic supermen, Khan (Ricardo Montalban) - brilliant renegade of 20th century Earth - has raided Space Station Regula One, stolen a top secret device called Project Genesis, wrested control of another Federation starship, and now schemes to set a most deadly trap for his old enemy Kirk... with the threat of a universal Armageddon!

This is the best of all the movies. However this particular version is not complete. The banter between Kirk and Midshipman Preston in the Enterprise's engine room, where he tells Kirk "Oh, no sir! Wha... this is the finest engine room in the whole Starfleet! If the Admiral can't see the facts for himself, then, with all due respect, he's as blind as a Tiberian bat!". Then Scotty revealing that Preston is his nephew. There are several other missing moments as well. It's a shame when studios do this. Some viewers never see the complete version and then later when a charcter dies for instance and everyone is upset about it, the context is lost. Still the best of the Trek movies though.

  • Correction of Library Icons, Please

Perhaps those in charge of such matters could show enough respect for audiences โ€” and for a corporationโ€™s own properties โ€” to generate the correct icon for this or that version of this or that film . . . Robin Hood; The Hobbit; The Lord of the Rings; The Patriot [2000]; Star Trek II . . . the respective icons, for standard versions versus extended versions, are unbelievably chaotic and erroneous. Everything is everywhere, and apparently no one can be bothered about it; what a shame, concerning many entertaining films whose icons merely ruin most attempts to care about having a film library. Five stars for the present film with a correction of library icons โ€” simply switch them for the two versions! โ€” but four stars for now.

This movie is awesome it is one of the coolest Star Trek movies but I was so ๐Ÿ˜ญ when Spock died but it was still epic but one thing I donโ€™t get is why didnโ€™t they take Spock back to his home planet and bury him instead shooting him out in space

I first saw "Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan" as a kid in the movie theaters when it came out in the early 80s. Even then, I knew this movie was amazing. In the over 30 years since, it has aged gracefully. The special effects that were so impressive when I first saw the film may not command the same awe they once did, but they're still pretty good. However, the movie's other strengths (ones that don't fade much with time) have really come to the fore. In terms of action; script; acting; use and quality of music; visual effects; and the integration of all of these elements to tell a compelling story, "Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan" still is in a league all its own in my humble opinion. Considering all the great science-fiction that's come since, that says a lot. Everything came into alignment with this film.

I love most of the Star Trek movies especially the director's cuts, can any one tell me is this the director's cut extended to edition?

Finally! A Start Trek movie where everything isn't a cliche! Montalban was the perfect choice for the movie and carried it away, even over the rough spots. Great moments of heart-pounding movie drama and high suspense. In my opinion, the best movie of all the Start Trek feature films.

Got to love Khan! What a guy, and he still can't beat Kirk.
