Wow!!! I knew the story in bits and pieces but so awesome to see it all put together in a well constructed timeline. The first hand accounts, re-enactments, the videography. Breathtaking anticipation. Well done!

Very emotional and gripping recounting of the avalanche disaster and miracle rescue from those that were present at the time. Forty years later and it's still raw. Current interviews laced with pictures and videos from the era are masterfully interplayed while visually feeling the storm on the mountain. Exceptionally well done!
  • Gripping from start to finish!

I grew up skiing at Alpine and never realized it was a ticking time bomb. So much so, you learn in the film that avalanche science was birthed there. But most moving is the the impact of an unprecedented storm that threw all predictions out the window and the heartfelt story of the toll it took on the ski patrol responsible for everyone's safety. Even though you know the ending the film is gripping as those moments described by the survivors is like yesterday for them... you're left with the sense that thanks to the process of telling their stories for the film, a level of healing from the trauma is finally able to happen... I highly recommend it!

An excellent, rock and roll view into the inner workings of an avalanche unit at a ski mountain. The documentary grips the viewer from the off and doesn't let go.

I was just a kid when this happened but I remember it in the news. The story is told mostly through actual footage and interviews. The camera work on the interviews is phenomenal. The emotion is captured perfectly. They have amazing footage from when it happened. So cool to see familiar newscasters. Gives you a new appreciation for the work that goes into keeping ski resorts, especially Alpine, safe.

I did not know this story but was told about it and this documentary recently. Tragic but compelling. I think what struck me is the honesty of the people involved. Good people making soul crushing decisions. They went through this horrific event 30+ years ago and it still lives with them. Would I be able to handle this as well as they did? That was the thought I kept coming back to while watching. 5 stars. Worth your time and $.

Feels more like a movie than a doc. Gripping from the outset. Tragic, yet hopeful. Will watch again
  • A truly intense documentary and movie.

This movie was enthralling off the get go and kept that intensity all the way through. With a big twist, you can’t ask for a better documentary or movie.
