I wanted SO much to love this film. I love Peter Dinklage and have been a fan of his for years. Though he was excellent in the film, the film as a whole stunk. Boring, the music/singing was so dull without creativity or uniqueness. The whole effort seemed forced. Just awful.

Cyrano is an overall snooze fest unfortunately. It features really well done cinematography and costumes, but besides two or three songs, the music is awfully monotone, and does not help with the dreadfully slow plot. Haley Bennett as Roxanne is definitely the standout!

I loved it because it wasn’t an over the top musical. Beautifully done! I’ve seen Roxanne too but this was sweet with a Bridgerton undertone. Drinklage can play any leading male role in a movie and I’d watch it. You can grow and progress further in your own happiness with loving words towards yourself and others.

Was pleasantly surprised. Really liked this version of this classical story. Clever how they made this one different. Dinklage was fantastic in this. Good music too. The songs. One in particular. “I Need More”.
  • Excellent, but didn’t need the singing

I gotta say right off, the music was horrible. There was no melody to most of the songs and the ones that had one were sadly substandard at best. I couldn’t understand it. It was a shame and a waste of the talents of the cast. They should’ve just done the movie without it. There were moments were it was odd to have them start singing words without much of a melody to it. Aside from that, I will say the cast’s acting was excellent. I applaud the casting of Peter Dinklage as Cyrano. He was phenomenal with his expressions and his performance! Absolutely stellar! Hayley Bennett as Roxanne and Kelvin Harrison as Christian, also did a great job.
  • Quite Wonderful Non Traditional Version

I enjoyed this immensely... There are some minor scenes missing from the original play, and it's not as poetically beautiful as the original, but it has a huge heart. Peter Dinklage gave an excellent, heart-wrenching performance. I will definitely watch this again.
  • Give us Depardieu!

Yikes. What a sad miss. I LOVE Cyrano De Bergerac. Peter Dinklage, Ben Mendelsohn....fantastic! sounds like we've got a movie. Except...we don't. Because along come the Dessners (who, dammit, I also love) and think "you know what one of the most brilliant plays of all time needs? Dopey songs!" As others have said: pretty enough to look at, almost unbearable to listen to. Even worse, the songs break up the flow of the script so badly that now the spoken parts of one of the wittiest, cleverest, most romantic scripts ever written feel stilted and awkward. iTunes: give us Depardieu's Cyrano!! It's a true classic and its a disgrace that you don't have it.
