There’s no point, no direction. It’s not horror. It’s a complete waste of time. No resolution. 0 starts!
  • HORRIBLE.

This movie isn't what you expect it to be. It's not horror. It's a thriller. That said, it's a complete waste of time. Consider yourself warned!!

Literally none of this directors movies are good. They all play out as some kind of hallucination he’s trying to put on but each movie is just so slow and crappy

This is the stupidest movie I’ve seen so far. Just a killer in the woods and crazy scientists trying to talk to plants . Not scary, not horror, not a thriller… just a huge waste of time
  • Mushrooms

Let’s get this out of the way: 99% of the bad reviews on here were posted by people who have never seen Ben Wheatley’s films and/or are not the kind of people know to always watch movies & tv shows w/ subtitles — even if it’s in their first/main language etc. Imagine some random North Americans watching this movie & having no idea what kind of movies this director makes lol. The bad reviews are so hilarious to read, because it’s obvious they are used to be passive viewers who don’t want to be asked to connect the dots, come to their own conclusions, or any sort of thinking at all. If a film doesn’t give them a neatly tied bow of an ending where every single detail has been repeatedly explained by characters who may as well be looking at the camera while they speak…well, you get the idea. Ben Wheatley’s films, for better or worse, have zero interest in holding the audience’s hand. It’s okay to not like his style. I’m not crazy about his most critically acclaimed films — I think they’re good, but not as amazing as several critics insist. However, while critics are only medium/lukewarm on this one (~76% RT), this is easily my favorite & what I consider Wheatley’s most hypnotic and substantive film he’s made. Thems the breaks.

The movie doesn’t explain much, but I like the concept and it kept me engaged. If you don’t like gore and cringe moments, then this movie wouldn’t be for you. I like that the movie makes you think deeply about nature’s “connection” with humans.
