  • A really bad croc movie.

Three guys and two girls, one of whom is pregnant, decide to go on holiday together. You might think they would go to the beach or maybe camping. But you’d be wrong. Instead, they decide to descend into a cave and crawl through tunnels. This movie is crafted in such a way to make this seem not only absolutely implausible, but also one of the dumbest plots ever. The acting is mediocre (at best), the effects are amateurish and this group finds every excuse possible to get into the water, which is filled with crocodiles. Forget this one and watch “Rogue.” It is a much better movie.

The first BLACK WATER is a cult classic. Its one of the best croc movies ever. So, of course, EVERYONE was excited about the sequence. Unhappily, it did NOT deliver. The crocodiles almost never appear in this movie and when they decide to appear its SO FAST that we barely see anything. Besides that, the scenario (the cave) looks fake. And the croc attack scenes are boring and unoriginal. Im giving it 3 stars because I LOVE SO MUCH crocodile movies BUT this ones a MISS!!!

Its not citizen Kane but I don’t understand all the poor reviews. This was a fun adventure/creature movie. If you liked The Descent this might be right up your alley.
  • Dumb decisions, fun plot, and intense cheesy fun

I love the original. This was at least a decent follow up. The worst part is the reasoning for going down into the caves, with a threatening storm nearby, it’s probably not best to go into an uncharted cave system...however, once they do, it gets the plot moving and becomes a fun little croc thriller, with some intense moments. Had a good time with it

Characters are not developed to the point where you care about them, or can even remember their names -- The set is good, the croc scenes are well done -- But otherwise not much story or reason to get interested
  • Not Worth It

I've watch my fair share of thriller Cave films, most notably Descent 1 & 2 and of course Cave (2005). Black Water Abyss falls short in every category. The underground set doen't show the vasness and realism of a cave, it looks cheap and quite frankly fake. Most of all the crocodile CGI when shown above water looks horrendous. If you need a Croc flick fix, watch Crawl (2019) instead... BWA is dead in the water.
  • Bad beginning issues, but great overall flick

I gave this 1 star after rental because of audio not being in sync with visual, but thankfully it sorted itself out pretty quick that I was able to watch it through. I was pleasantly pleased with the movie. It was nicely scripted, and not too silly like most horror films nowadays. I actually liked this movie much more than the overpriced, overdone Deep BlueSea 3. Worth the watch!
