Suspiria

Did someone pay for these reviews? I’m so confused how ANYONE could think this is better than the original? This movie is absolute garbage compared to the original. No beautiful bright atmospheric lighting, or beautiful scenery! Just boring dull, and bland! Great cast, but goodness gracious this story is nothing like the original. I tried to keep an open mind but they ruined this film.

I don’t usually like remakes but this one far surpassed the original. Excellent cast. Excellent storyline. Excellent music. Very violent so be warned. And that ending was superb!!!

I understand what they were trying to do here, but they tried a little too hard. I thought it would be more artful and less boring.

I didn't watch the original Suspiria but watching this remake in my opinion this remake is fantastic. Suspiria (2018) adds some spiece to the new edition to the remake horror genre and has beautiful locations and wonderful lighting and i like the use of color this film has put on. But what bothers me is that Dakota Johnson (from The Fifty Shades of Grey Troilgy) is in this film but she gives a outstanding performence and the movie has a brutal tone and it's very magical if you ask. Go ahead and watch Suspiria (2018) it's a wonderful set-piece drama remake that will leave you speechless.

I loved it. The dancing and choreography was brilliant. Visuals are stunning. Acting was superior as well. It’s not for everyone. But as a former dancer and an individual who loves everything witches, this was definitely my cup of tea. Hope to see more

Hopefully Luca’s last “Horror” film! let’s pray he sticks to Oscar hunting movies and leaves this genre alone. I am a fan, of horror, arthouse, nonhorror etc. this was an extremely poor attempt to make a "shocking" "provocative" arthouse horror film. It was godawful slow, (and I like slow burns, The VVitch, There Will Be Blood, Bone Tomahawk etc.) The score in no way complements the film (it was a Tom Yorke solo record). When something of any relevance happens it was almost laughable. Almost every “artistic” choice, was the wrong one.

The acting was wonderful, music was spot on. I want to say that the I believe the screenplay and / or overall direction is where the issues stem from. For instance something that really bothered me was how they kept leaving the action and cutting away from somethings that I found very intriguing. There’s also the issue of actors being misdirected into doing things that really seem pardon my straightforwardness but, stupid. Like in the first few minutes of the film where Susie standing in a train station hears a very loud airplane noise and suddenly and completely unconvincingly drops her belongings. It looks ridiculous. I like the story but I feel this could have been a film by another title. It’s got its charms but it had too many problems for me. One major issue is that the lead isn’t a trained dancer so it comes off completely unrealistic at times when she’s working on her jumps for instance. 5/10

Just... wow. First of all, contrary 2 what a lot of people have said about this Suspiria & Argento’s original being so different, I actually saw scenes that paid a direct homage 2 Argento’s Suspiria. There IS something 4 those who love the bright garish dark ride colors of the original. Dream-like sequences & the perfect use of sound r very Argento inspired. This Suspiria & Thom York’s beautiful creepy score r subversives of the original film & Goblin’s score. The whole movie is like an inside-out version of Argento’s original Suspiria. I LOVED it!! It is an acquired taste, certainly not 4 every1, & very avante guarde. Despite the 2&1/2hrs runtime it is not 1 minute 2 long. I LOVED the dance sequences which r beautiful & brutal. Approach with caution; there r scenes that u just can’t unsee. Xtremely disturbing & an xcellent xecution of cults & feminism & xtreme fascism. Use the cc 4 subtitles, it is mostly spoken in German. Enjoy. Now that I’ve seen it I can never unsee it.
