Description

One of the most renowned card magicians of all time, Richard Turner astounds audiences around the world with his legendary sleight of hand. What they may not even realize—and what makes his achievements all the more amazing—is that he is completely blind. Charting Turner's colorful life from his tumultuous childhood to the present, Dealt reveals how through determination and force of will, he overcame seemingly insurmountable obstacles to rise to the top of his profession. It's both a tantalizing, up-close look at the secretive world of magic and a candid, awe-inspiring portrait of a man who lives beyond his limitations.

Richard Turner is a perfect card mechanic. There is no person alive that can match his skill with a deck. This movie highlights his skill, dedication, and progression both in magic, and in life. He is truely a living legend of the stage. That being said, the most impressive part of this movie is the dedication from his wife and son. They helped him achieve his greatness, and are the true heroes of this movie.

Finally, a beautiful real-life & unique true story, (and life lesson), about a Wizard and his family. Amazing strength, courage, talent and education for us all to look up to. Loved it.

An extremely odd talent, the man at the top of it, and the enormous challenges he surmounted to accomplish this and other goals. This is a fascinating peek at card cheating and an intimate portrait of man who can do anything, despite what we call a disability (he calls it an advantage).
  • Inspiring True Story, Excellent Film

After seeing "Dealt" recently on the large screen in a local theater, experiencing the film and its message again was a must. It played well in our home via iTunes with our early-teen-agers who, being a bit unsure of a “documentary about some old card-dealer guy”, were enthralled and we all enjoyed every minute. This is a credit not only to the relatability of the central character but also the quality and fine detail with which this documentary was directed and produced, the way it was written, scenes shot and edited, etc. It’s simply an excellent work of storytelling in cinema that offers a true-to-life message of inspiration and hope beyond its mere entertainment value. You'll find yourself wanting even more of the Turner's and their story, wishing the film could somehow continue because the characters are such endearing, genuine folks. More of this, please, from Director, Luke Korem!

Dealt is a very inspirational and thought provoking film. The focus is on Richard Turner, a blind card mechanic who wants to be evaluated on his merits alone, not the fact he is blind. It's a moving story with a powerful ending and a lot of fun along the way. Highly recommend!!

What I was expecting was an expose on magic or card tricks; what this documentary is is a tale of a family's battle to reconcile and/or dismiss disease. I highly recommend watching, then implementing his regimented lifestyle and dedication.
