Description

Hoping to reverse a 'curse' that's hung over his family for generations, Jimmy Logan (Channing Tatum) hatches a plan to rob the Charlotte Motor Speedway during the Coca-Cola 600, NASCAR's biggest race of the year. He convinces his bartender brother Clyde (Adam Driver) and hairdresser sister Mellie (Riley Keough) to help him pull everything off--but first they have to break the bomb maker Joe Bang (Daniel Craig) out of jail in broad daylight. Academy Award® winner Hilary Swank plays a no-nonsense FBI agent determined to bring the Logans to justice and keep them from racing away with the loot in this high-speed caper from Academy Award®-winning director Steven Soderbergh.

All star cast. Legend director. A heist story with southern charm. A slow unraveling story that revolves around fast racing cars to deliver a nice guys finish last ending. Could have been better.

Dreadful and completely derivative, this film is soooo unlucky. Just because it's directed by Sir S.S. we should give it a pass, as if his accomplishments with the Oceans films gives him free reign to plop in our faces whatever garbage he directs? I kept waiting for the "cool", "slick" or "gotcha" moments... and I waited until the credits were over and still didn't get one. Do not listen to the 5 star reviews; they are blinded by the sleight of hand that is, as I said before, Sir Steven. The acting is almost revolting. Adam Driver gave the MOST listless, unenthused and wooden performance I have ever seen. Don't believe me? Go watch it. I guess Daniel Craig was the only saving grace in this film. He gave it a go, and clearly has comedic abilities, but the script and direction failed him at every turn. Stay away and don't be fooled by the flashes and colors - it's a red herring.

I have never liked the heist movie cliché. This is one of the few heist movies that I can honestly say that I love. I never knew I needed this movie until I saw it the first time. I found it becuase I am an Adam Driver fan and found it on amazon prime for anybody who's looking btw. I showed this movie to both of my parents and my sister and they all loved it, which is saying a lot since my mom and sister never like my movie choices. Adam Driver and Channing Tatum are the perfect brother duo in this movie, and their humor and natural dialogue is complemented by Daniel Craig's character who is constantly aggravated throughout the movie. I loved John Denver's music throughout the movie, it paved the way for the perfect heartfelt scene towards the end. Every song is so perfectly placed, and the details of the heist are very impressive. Some may not like the slower pace of this movie, but I have a patience for any and all lengths of movies. Highly recommend. 4.5/5, but I'll round.
