Description

Two high school filmmakers’ (Keir Gilchrist and Logan Miller) experiment started with a simple idea: if you had the equipment and the ambition, could you convince another person that they're being haunted? Through a series of escalating pranks, the boys taunt their elderly neighbor (James Caan) further and further to get a reaction. As their suspicions grow and the tension mounts, they realize too late that the man they're manipulating is the last person they should've chosen for their project.

I've always been a huge James Caan fan, which is what initially drew me to this film. I couldn't look away from the screen during his spot on portrayal, and everyone in the film contributed impressively to this film's success. I'll never understand why the best movies get the lowest reviews from "professional" critics. That's why now I start searching for the lowest rotten tomato scores where obviously amazing actors are cast, and go up from there. This is where the gems are!
  • Actually Ends Up Kinda Sad- But Good!

The very end of the film is actually a little depressing- but sad nonetheless. I remember reading reviews and I kept trying to "guess" it (as I often can once u are a hermit like myself and watch a lot of flicks) but I didnt figure it out all the way. I dont wanna spoil anything for anyone, but I am going to throw it out here that this is a movie that is definetly worth a watch (at LEAST rent it)! Especially if you are a fan of thrillers and/or dramas. Preferably in that order.

it's definitely not a movie where you could guess the ending. i loved this movie and how well it was written. so suspenseful and the ending is shocking. it also shows how messed up the court system is in today's time..

everyone was great in this movie. i thought all the acting was on point. the whole idea was interesting and i had fun watching it. however *****SEMI SPOILER DONT READ ON IF U HAVENT WATCHED YET*** although out of context it probably doesn’t make much sense. anyways i don’t think the writers understand the law very well. they didn’t break two laws. they broke a lot more than that. and misdemeanors? what about armed home invasion? thats a fifteen year charge alone… its as if the writers forgot that part of their story happened.

Not what we expected at all!!! Great emotional ending. Makes you really think about the next time you try to "judge a book by its cover"!!!
  • Not really a horror movie

This movie was not quite what it seemed from the trailers. There were some very suspenseful moments, but overall the movie seemed to move quite slowly. However, the end is quite different from what I expected, so it was really more of a drama I think.

What a great movie! This did not disappoint! Excellent use of found footage and a creative spin on the creepy neighbor genre. The writing and acting was fantastic. Kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

A surprising twist in the last 20 mins! Although very saddening in the end, it is a look into how horrid the justice system is today.
  • Unexpected!

My head is still spinning from that ending. Wow. Such a cool, inventive, edge of your seat thriller. Highly recommend!
