Description

Alicia Silverstone and Ryan Kwanten star in this heartfelt romantic comedy about what happens when puppy love goes to the dogs. After six years of marriage, successful physician Olive (Silverstone) and her struggling ice hockey hubby Clay (Kwanten) decide to call it quits. And although the split is amicable, they both want custody of their beloved dog Wesley. Facing a court-ordered 60-day review to determine who’ll get custody, Olive and Clay each try their doggone best to win over the judge – and the pooch. But no matter who “wins,” everyone will lose – unless man’s best friend can somehow reunite the couple in this fun, charming story.

I am sorry but these have to be many fake reviews; I watched this movie awhile back when it was free on Amazon Prime and I could not finish it. It starts out with this couple fighting like mad and then arguing about who gets the dog and it goes downhill from there. The dog did his mess in her car and I about got sick. I mean like how would you not know that that would not happen? Oh yeah, she was in clueless.....lol. Maybe for just $5 you guys will not feel so bad if you buy it, but don't say I did not warn you. But Office Space instead.

It's not the funniest or best acted flick. But it's clean, cute and has a great dog 🐶! Not what I expected- but bought it for the price of a rental. It's worth a watch. Love the dog!! 👍

A heart-warming film set in snowy Chicago. I never heard of Ryan Kwanten before, but he was perfect as the charming neer-do-wll husband of Alicia Silverstone....they had a real connection. And of course Wesley the dog.....who can not love a yellow lab? ( I have one, labs are the best ). A great family film, entertaining and refreshingly sweet without being corny.

"Sometimes you can do everything right, and the puck still goes in." This is some advice Clay gives his young protege about goal tending in hockey. It's a metaphor that neatly explains the lives of these characters in "Who gets the Dog?" Here is a film that does a great job showing good people with messy lives and human faults. There are no real villains, although obviously when dealing with divorce and custody, there's plenty of conflict. There are some great one-liners in this film, but the lion's share of the humor is character-driven. Even funnier the second time!
  • Super fun w Chicago scenes

Just downloaded & watched during my workout - I'll watch anything with Ryan Kwantan from True Blood. This was adorable, great chemistry between actors & dog, beautiful Chicago scenes. Loved it!!

Saw this at the premier Tuesday night and was not disappointed. Left the film glowing. The dog is adorable and the chemistry between Alicia and Ryan on screen is charming. Perfect family film.
