A heartbreaking, motivating, compelling film about American history. The Black Panther legacy was captured beautifully and tastefully, this documentary left me inspired in our fight for social justice.

This movie portrays when they were a party trying too stand for something and stand up against racism, unfortunately now days black panthers is for nothing but the promotion of racism against anyone who is white and teaches hatred and racism instead of promoting acceptance of others, funny how it went from against racism to promoting it!

This documentary is a perfect companion to the book Black Against Empire. Great film, amazing that it took this long for it to be made.

This movie dug deep into my soul. My curiosity has always been high regarding the Black Panthers. The doc was put together very well and showed various layers. They did so much for community. Must see.

Having come of age during this period, I can remember with informed clarity of the rise and fall of the Panthers. They were much admired, by both blacks and whites for their understanding of the law and how they could use it to eradicate oppression, and also for the affection they had for black people. They were what you wanted a parent to be—protective, always ready to defend you, but also loving enough to cook you breakfast in the morning. They were attacked by J Edgar Hoover, who feared and hated black people as a general rule.The illegality of his goon squads played out in the assassination of Fred Hampton & Mark Clark. I lived in Chicago then, & the murder generated a revolution as black people stood in long lines to vote out SA Hanrahan, a rehearsal for the commitment required to elect Mayor Harold Washington later on. Terrific documentary, masterful.
