Description

After Mulder’s disappearance, Scully returns to FBI headquarters to find Special Agent John Doggett heading up a FBI manhunt for her partner. Knowing that type of search will prove futile, Scully and Skinner turn to the Lone Gunmen in hopes of uncovering information about additional UFO activity around the time of Mulder’s disappearance. Although such information leads them to Gibson Praise, the man with Gibson, a man who appears to be Mulder, is in fact an alien bounty hunter. Finally realizing that Mulder will not be found so easily, Agent Doggett is officially assigned to the X-Files. Now, after all she has been through with Mulder, it is Scully who is “the believer” and who must find a way to work with “the skeptic,” John Doggett.

With David Duchovney inching away from the X-files, season 8 changes Scully from skeptic to believer working with a new partner, John Doggett. A lot of fans were very critical of Robert Patrick (Doggett), but I for one think he did an outstanding job and enjoyed the new dynamic Doggett brought to the show. It was brilliant how well they wrote him into the show, allowing Scully to almost act on all that the fans were feeling at the time. The season also introduces Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish), and includes one of my favorite episodes, "Existence". Overall, it's a very strong season. Give it a chance...
  • Decent Season, Missing an Episode

Surprisingly, Season 8 was pretty decent, even though the first half was sans Mulder--whose character was surely missed, by me anyway. I will admit that the season picked up once Mulder was found and resurrected, but overall, it's a solid season. However, iTunes is missing episode 17, "Empedocles", which IMO is a great episode. Do NOT buy the whole season without this episode.

though there was a significant lack of mulder it was still a pretty cool season. Deadalive is a pretty cool episode and existence but this is where most people stopped watching. i liked this season but it wasnt the greatest. the absence of duchovny was a major turning poit in the show, but still you should watch. its the xfiles.
  • Not good, but not bad

Although this season was good(all of them are), but this was the season that special agent, John Doggett was first introduced to the show. The whole reason he was there in the first place is because David Duchovny did not want to continue acting on the series, so he needed to be replaced. I think because Mulder appeared less frequently, this is why seasons 8-9 are not rated as well, but this season is good, and i think worth-buying anyway.
  • The Season That Changed Everything

This was the season that changed the status quo of the show, introducing Special Agent John Doggett as Scully's new partner tasked with the mission of finding a missing Mulder. Some people liked it, some people thought it was a let down. Overall, this was my favorite season of Seasons 6-9, it's season 9 where things really went downhill.
