The Family Man

My favorite movie of all time... 100% a must see.

Excellent performance by Nicolas Cage and Tea Leoni, it makes you laugh, cry, feel warm all over and even makes you think about the consequence of choices and the ripple effect it can have on your entire life. I always enjoy watching this movie. It never gets old with a holiday feel to it.

53%? Check out the reviews from ordinary human beings who've watched the movie and not the critics. Sometimes they miss the boat, not understanding that a movie reaches out and touches something truly human in us, something we need to see/hear. Instead, they view movies like this one as "schmaltzy", "sentimental", and "overwrought". As someone who has many pretty critical reviews here on iTunes, I'm here to tell you it rarely crosses that line. There are people who've compared this movie to It's a Wonderful Life, but it's an inversion of that old trope: our main character gets to see what might have happened if he'd decided to prioritize love over his career. His new life is messy, complicated, and chock-full of expectations he has no idea how he'll meet. Cage is at his scenery-chewing best in a memorable scene where he childishly demands an expensive suit he could have afforded in his old existence. Tea Leoni is so, so easy to love in her role as the main character's lawyer wife. And the whole story is warm wish-fulfillment as our main character receives the blessings he never knew he was starving for. I'm not super-fond of the magical mechanism and think the writers would've done FAR better to leave out how this happened altogether -- as they did in Groundhog Day, a story with a similar vibe and message. (Did you know in the original he was supposed to have been cursed by a witch? True story.) In Family Man, we have a magical character granting the blessing (and of course, he fulfills the trope of Magical Black Man, which is a kind of crappy stereotype). With the elimination of this part of the story, the whole thing would've held together far better. However, that's the only thing where I can really complain. It's a great love story and story about family. I do recommend it, especially around Christmas.

Watched it over and over and still make me cry. Always remember what you have and believe in second chances

My wife and I watch this movie every year during the holidays. We absolutely love it. "I'll have a funnel cake. It'll be the highlight of my day." "Where are my Mary Janes, Kate?" "I sell tires retail Kate, retail." Nicholas Cage's delivery is phenomenal. Probably one of his greatest performances and yet under the radar. Tea Leoni is fantastic. Jeremy Piven before he was really anyone. The scene in the bowling alley with the Fidelity Bank and Trust is classic. And Don Cheadle. What's not to love. The only downside if anything to this movie is that the ending has nowhere to go. It does well for where the story boxes it into, but while it is a great feelgood movie that makes you appreciate your family, it isn't a buttoned up Hollywood happy ending. And that is actually refreshing.

This is truly one of the best movies I have ever seen. I have watched it many, many times and finally decided to buy it on my iPhone so I can just watch it on my way to and from work. Truly a classic!!!!!!

This movie should of been NC 17! It showed a baby's pubic area! (Well, it showed it quickly but still!) Saw this in church. Very stupid
