Retelling of High Plains Drifter

This movie is just a retelling of High Plains Drifter in a different setting. Clint, the avenging Preacher ghost, has been shot in the back by the bad guys instead of being whipped to death as in High Plains Drifter. High Plains Drifter is the better movie and one that I continue to enjoy each time I watch it. High Plains Drifter is much better written and directed than this knock off.
Excellent!!!

I love this film. It is one of the best. Just behind Outlaw J. Wales which I think is the best film by Eastwood ever.

im a big clint eastwood and western fan, but this movie is for an audience of 65 years of age and up. it's incredibly slow and the story is weak and predictable to a degree of boredom. you will thank me later.
Mr. Eastwood, if you please.

An all-time great film. In my personal top ten.
I am an avid film buff since growing up in a small Alabama town with nothing but great little theaters in the downtown area. Very early on Clint Eastwood stood out and became a favorite of mine. In the 80's I took Fridays off when big movies opened. I was so glad to take off the opening Friday of Pale Rider. Every viewing since has confirmed my decision. Thank you Mr. Eastwood from one of your biggest fans

You'll love this movie.
As everyone else points, out: Clint at his best, solid Western storyline. The supernatural element is so subtle most people miss, and will likely argue that it isn't there. Watch it. Great fun.
Okay

This is a fine western, but not incredible, as some have said. Most of the plot lines are obvious to anyone who has seen a handful of westerns, and a certain element of Eastwood's character, The Preacher, takes all the suspense out of the final shoot out (to say more would be a spoiler) . I rented this, expecting a great film. Instead, I got a passable western. Only rent if you can't get some of his other work, like "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly," or "The Outlaw Josey Wales."
