Fantastic movie, everyone played their part very well...Cummings played the downward spiral of a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders that just can’t catch a break, but is able to snap into action when he needs to...I loved this movie and recommend to anyone...although this movie has its comedic moments, I wouldn’t call it a comedy...

I saw this early January and it is my favorite film I’ve seen this year. A layered performance and stupendous work by the entire cast and crew.

I am amazed as well with the high ratings for this movie. I found his behavior to be that of a person in a jump suit at the crazy farm and not in a police uniform. I see where the actor, Jim, is trying to go with launching moments of strong emotion but the fading in and out within the same scene and his un-contolled anger just didn't work. No way a normal person could relate to this behavior or his story as it was presented.
  • Endless angst by a self-indulgent guy

To be frank, this movie is awful. If the first four minutes aren't enough to make you blow this one off, and if you try to be fair, all you get is pretty much all the same. An extremely messed-up guy with anger management issues provides a non-stop flood of messed-upness. And that's pretty much what it's about. The guy acts his heart out, but the movie is awful. I have no idea who wrote all the positive reviews and I don't know where they came from. A big question is answered when the end credits state that the guy who starred in it also wrote it and directed it. With few exceptions such films are very self-indulgent and this one clearly is. Unless you are into 123 minutes of messed-up followed by a guy finding some sort of vague resolution, I'd give this one a pass.

It is so riveting to watch this movie filled with emotionally painful moments and bursts of comedic perfection. At its core it is heartwarming and endearing. I don’t think I’ve been so struck by a film since I was a teenager 20 years ago falling in love with film in the first place.

Usually movies like this that fly under the radar are second rate and just kind of average. Such is not the case with Thunder Road. Jim Cummings is excellent in this movie, bizarre, off beat and at times very funny, even though the subject matter is pretty serious. Great script and it ends up being very touching at times as well.
  • In some ways a strange film?

If you can get through the opening dialogue in the church, you can get through it all. It's well done and 97% seems high for this film, 75-80% seems more appropriate! Anyway enjoyed the relationship with his daughter.

Congrats to Jim Cummings! Wow! That he did so much of the work on this movie and played the part beautifully is a major accomplishment. He's super pleasant to watch and really funny and very much a "jimmy Stewart" of the 21st century. Reminds me of mark duplass actually! Whom I adore. Such a good movie! I also would call this an instant classic and at the same time it depicts exactly a certain struggle that America is going thru rn like an epidemic. Hilarious and heartwarming xo
